I am the
director of Harbor Impact Ministries and have the opportunity to speak to a lot
of people about our services. Recently I have gotten into conversations with
several people who are trying to care for profoundly ill family members.
Because I am in the same situation, I tell people about VNA.
daughter was released from St. John Hospital unable to walk or talk or swallow.
She had been in the intensive care unit for three weeks. Two thirds of her
tongue was removed and reconstructed with muscle and veins from her forearm.
She had a neck resection and skin grafts. We were unprepared for the condition
she was in when she was released from the hospital. But Visiting Nurse
Association and Blue Water Hospice was not unprepared. They surrounded our
daughter and our entire family with their superb healing team including a
nurse, a physical therapist, a social worker and a speech therapist. Their
services were life-changing. Our daughter now walks, talks and even eats
privilege to have such excellent home care in our community.
